The East Asian DH Working Group at Princeton was launched in 2020. It emerged out of fruitful conversations, collaborations and friendships between Princeton faculty, graduate students, librarians and DH scholars. Its main aim is to promote the knowledge about and application of DH methods by Princeton students. Drawing on the scholarly strength of the East Asian Department, the wealth of the East Asian Library collections, and the research focus of the Center for Digital Humanities the Working Group seeks to support and sustain digitally-inflected research and teaching in East Asian Studies and the study of East Asia in all subjects.
The Working Group meets regularly during the course of the academic year to share works-in-progress and host visiting speakers. Membership is open to undergraduates, graduate students, postdocs, faculty and staff with any level of DH experience and from all disciplinary backgrounds also welcomes participation from interested students and faculty of nearby colleges.
The East Asian DH Working Group was founded with support by a Seed Grant from the Center for Digital Humanities. Founders and current co-chairs are: Xin Wen (Assistant Professor, East Asian Studies Department), Joshua Seufert (Chinese Studies Librarian, East Asian Library) and Nick Budak (Digital Humanities Developer, Center for Digital Humanities).
